Lamar Buffalo Ranch

Built in 1995, this building serves as the home for the ranch’s education director, making it one of the most used buildings at Lamar Ranch. Despite this, the director’s cabin may be the least efficient building on the ranch. There is no insulation, the windows are single pane, and the only heat is through a propane heater and a wood burning stove.

Renovations to the cabin, however, are in the works with plans for new insulation, double pane windows, weatherization, and electric heating. This will provide an opportunity to show how much energy these measures saves, revealing both environmental and financial benefits.
