Zuzanna was born in Warsaw, Poland, and came to the United States in 1993 to study architecture at New Jersey Institute of Technology. She received Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1998 and Master of Architecture degree from Cornell University in 2003. Zuzanna’s master’s thesis entitled “Secondary Language of Architecture” explored the role that architectural representation plays in the way that we perceive the world around us and in the way that we design. Zuzanna started her teaching career as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Kansas and came to Montana State in 2007. She is currently responsible for co-coordination and development of first year design curriculum. She also teaches required Architectural Drawing classes, representation theory seminar and graduate design studios. In class as well as in research Zuzanna continues to explore issues related to theory of representation and bodily perception. She has written and presented scholarly papers that explore issues of representation and phenomenology. Examples include “Beauty of Environmental Architecture”(Oxford Conference 2008 “50 Years On – Resetting the Agenda for Architectural Education”) and “Representing the Space of the Body” (“Flesh and Space; Intertwining Architecture and Merleau-Ponty” 34th Annual Conference of the International Merleau-Ponty Circle conference at Mississippi State University).
