Throughout the third year students develop the ability to design environmental control and integrated building construction systems as well as the ability to utilize advanced graphic communication strategies. A professional practice course provides students with an understanding of the architect’s responsibilities to the health, safety and welfare of both individuals and communities. The design studios are intended to develop the student’s understanding of ways to integrate environmental control systems and building construction systems
Major Courses
During the third year of the program one takes required architecture courses as well as core curriculum courses. For a course to count as either a Degree Requirement or a CORE course toward graduation requirements a student must receive at least a C- or better.

A professional practice course provides students with an understanding of the strategies by which design concepts and business strategies are resolved in terms of the architect’s responsibilities for the health, safety and welfare of both individuals and communities. The design studios are intended to develop the student’s understanding of ways to integrate environmental control systems and building construction systems. In the third year, particular emphasis within the curriculum is placed on building tectonics.

Curriculum
Advising Notes
Each semester preregistration for the upcoming semester occurs during midterms. As a student in the Environmental Design program on receives group advising during either studio or support courses. During this group advising session, Rachael Ortego, the Director of Student Services will discuss the registration process and distribute important advising information such as Registration PDF’s and Advising Notes. Each semester the Advising Notes will also be posted on the website. Students will be notified of their group advising time prior to the second month of each semester.
