Our facilities offer a wide range of amenities selected to support the students who attend the School of Architecture with the most cutting edge technology available. In the ever expanding world of technology, we strive to offer hands on experience with many of the techniques that will become the standard for practice in the years to come. Visit this section to find the most up-to-date information about the resources available in the School of Architecture.

Fabrication

Technology and its applications are facilitated in the School of Architecture by offering students rapid prototyping technology. Two Laser cutters, a Z-Corp rapid prototype machine, CNC Router and a digitizer are the tools used to bring the digital world to life.  These technologies are available to students in their second year; however time restrictions and fees may apply.

Shop

The School of Architecture is home to a shop where hands-on practice with wood, metal and glass is paramount. Students continually explore the intricacies of construction by designing and building their own pieces. The shop is open to second year students and above. These students must first participate in the shop orientation offered throughout the fall and spring semesters. Many upper division courses are offered to students who are interested in formal instruction, including Furniture Making and Materials class. Shop hours vary throughout the semester; however an updated schedule is regularly posted outside the shop door.

Printing

The School of Architecture provides updated inkjet and laser printers for general studio use. These printers are to be used for school purposes only, but are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Ink and toner are supplied by the school, but paper is the student’s responsibility. In addition the print room will continue to provide plotting services on the large format color plotters as well as scanning services on the new large format scanner. A digital imaging lab has been set up in the former darkroom which includes CD-burners, large format flatbed scanner, slide and film scanner and a printer. With our automated pay system, students are able to send print jobs to the large format printers and pay with student ID (Cat Card). This allows for the print room to be open for Architecture students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
