Bob Utzinger is a Professor Emeritus of Architecture. He has been a Registered Architect in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana and a Licensed Professional Engineer in Colorado and Wyoming. Educated at Stanford University, University of Colorado and The University of Michigan, he served as Director of Architecture at the University of Colorado from 1973-1979 before joining the MSU faculty as the Director of the School of Architecture from 1979-90, and as Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Architecture from 1989-1990 and 1992-1994.
He has received an AIA Fellowship for study in Finland, four teaching awards, a Montana AIA Design Award, a Ford Foundation Research Grant that resulted in two publication on Early Childhood Facility Design and has been elected to "Who's Who in America" and Tau Beta Pi Honorary Engineering Society.
He served for nine years on the State of Montana Board of Architects and was chair of AIA Design Awards Juries in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana. While serving in the U. S. Navy, he was initiated into the "Domain of the Golden Dragon" and the "Domain of Neptunus Rex", two doubtful distinctions.
