Jaya Mukhopadhyay, Ph.D., LEED AP
Jaya Mukhopadhyay joined the School of Architecture at Montana State University in 2015. Jaya teaches courses on Environmental Control Systems to undergraduate and graduate students. Prior to joining the School, Jaya worked as a Research Engineering Associate at the Energy Systems Laboratory, Texas A&M University System. Jaya has over 15 years’ experience in building energy modeling, energy codes, and assessment of commercial and residential energy performance.
Jaya’s current interests include: Net-zero energy buildings, building energy simulation, daylighting, energy efficiency in residential & commercial buildings, passive solar building systems, operation & maintenance of high performance buildings.
Currently, her students are working on several research topics, which include: evaluating the validity of the LEED rating system for daylighting and energy credits; energy efficiency retrofits for residential buildings in historic districts in Montana; and impact of occupant behavior on performance of building systems.
